Personality Tests

Personality Tests

Sample Answer

Personality Tests

Fully understanding oneself can be difficult because we do not fully see ourselves as others do. Personality tests are a simple way of finding out more about oneself (Rothe 12). I took two personality tests to compare the similarities or differences between the two tests. Both the IPIP-NEO and Jung Typology Test revealed very similar results. One highlighted factor in both tests is my very high score in introversion and my inclination toward using my feelings and emotions to inform my decision-making.

Given the similarity in the results of these tests, I am forced to agree with the results. I feel that the tests describe a character that is very close to my personality. I may not be sure about the other results, but I believe I am an introvert. These tests are accurate because I am naturally a person who prefers solitude over a social setting. When at parties or any other social gatherings, I find it hard to interact with people I do not know. Therefore, although these tests may not be 100% accurate, I believe they give a picture close to the truth. Taking such tests is important because they help one understand how their traits influence their life. For instance, one can understand the traits that include their decision-making so that they can improve in that area. A person who is inclined to the use of feelings over thinking may be able to understand how emotions affect rationality and change their decision-making styles.

Personality Tests

This discussion is about personality tests.

This personality test is based on the Big Five theory of personality. The Big Five is a Trait theory that proposes that personality can be attributed to variations of 5 major personality traits: Introversion/Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, and Openness to Experience.

This test is 120 questions and is a short version of a much longer test that also is available on this site if you want to compare them. Just write a little paragraph about one or two things you learned about yourself or personality tests. Maybe you disagree with the results or maybe you agree with them. Posting about either is just fine. Maybe you do not believe that online personality tests are accurate. You can post about that.

Remember, a computer program cannot compare to a person providing a personality assessment. It just may not be true. I always try to post when someone first takes this test not to take everything so seriously. This is a computer interpretation. When you truly assess someone you need to have a face-to-face interview. Sometimes people misinterpret the questions or read them differently than they were intended. I can’t tell you how many students say the NEO says they are less concerned with others needs. I think the results of a computer program interpreting the results and an actual personality assessment with a psychologist or therapist would give different results.

Also, don’t post the narrative sections of your NEO results. You never know what someone can do with it. For instance, I’m afraid that the people who come out as too trusting might get some e-mails about buying a bridge in Brooklyn. 🙂 Plus, I don’t want any rumors starting about anyone.
