For example, the knowledge learned in this unit will help me to explain the relationship between culture and disease prevalence. As Rehm & Room (2017) noted, culture indeed impacts the occurrence and prevalence of diseases in all populations. Specifically, I will be able to explain why most African American kids are more prone to mental diseases than their white compatriots.

Most importantly, course objective two will be pivotal in the identification of the specific disease states and syndromes in different pediatric settings. For example, I will be able to tell that a child is suffering from ADHD if he/she exhibits symptoms like impulsivity (speaks without reasoning), hyperactivity (is constantly in motion), and inattention (daydreams or has difficulty paying attention).
